Croydon Model Railway club was formed in 1982 with its clubrooms originally in Croydon. In 1985 the club moved to its present premises beneath Chirnside Park Shopping Centre.

With our own clubroom, there are plenty of activities in which the members can get involved. Whatever their interest in modelling, there is plenty of scope for them.

Members meet weekly, every Wednesday night from 7.30 pm onward. Meetings are held at the Chirnside Park Shopping Centre clubrooms.

A committee of 7 people administer the club on behalf of its members inclusive of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and three other members. A sub committee is responsible for exhibition organization.

At the club's Chirnside premises there is a test track facility for members use. The tracks on it include HO, Hon3 and N, all of which are in the shape of a large oval. In the centre of this oval there are other gauges laid in a straight-line format, such as O gauge.

Currently the club has members who model Victorian, Australian, British, European and American prototypes. They model in scales from N to O and in narrow, standard and broad gauges.

There are several HO/OO layouts that are taken to model railway exhibitions by the club, These including Black Springs which is an Australian prototype based on Swan Hill. The club also has an N gauge, DCC controlled layout. Another other club layout is Thomas and Friends which is a low-level HO/OO model allowing children at exhibitions to see it and drive its trains.

The club holds an annual exhibition, where members exhibit club layouts and other clubs exhibit their layouts. One of the purposes of this exhibition is raise money for club room rental and ongoing club projects.

There are two types of Club membership available a senior and an intermediate membership. Membership costs $35 per year and is open to anyone interested in any aspect of the hobby of railway modelling. To become a Member you need to complete the Official Membership Form Application and be subject to approval from the existing club membership.

Prospective members and visitors are always welcome at the clubroom. If you would like any further information about the club and its activities, please visit the Contact Us page of this website.
